The Naledi3d Factory has been appointed by KCTCS to distribute their industrial 3D training simulations within Africa

As a major college system in Kentucky (USA), KCTCS boasts 16 colleges, 67 campuses and over 90 000 students in a State that is an important industrial and coal mining region of the USA.

As part of its commitment to developing Kentucky's workforce, Kentucky Community and Technical College System launched the KCTCS Interactive Digital Center in 2008.

The Interactive Digital Center provides cutting edge visualization technologies that support the delivery of high quality simulation based training in the State of Kentucky.

Through immersive, interactive solutions, the KCTCS Interactive Digital Center helps companies shorten learning cycles and reduce training costs. The centre also supports client-specific digital assets, which means the centre can create robust training applications that are customized to fit employee needs.

Precision Measurement simulation based learning application

This learning application provides engineering and artisan students with a hands-on interactive 3D learning experience designed to teach the basic skills required in using precision measurement tools common to the manufacturing industry.

The learner will also attain a good foundation of basic workshop maths skills along with instructions on how to use each precision measurement instrument.

The system allows the learner to practice reading the following instruments:

  • Metric and imperial Micrometers
  • Metric and imperial Vernier Callipers and an
  • Imperial Dial Calliper

Once the foundation skills-set is learned, the application allows the learner to proceed through the training at their own pace, with learning checks as each lesion proceeds.

These learning experiences provide real-time feedback that allows the learner to learn from their mistakes and also gives them the opportunity to drill and practice at their own pace.

The application concludes with an interactive assessment through a skills test showing the number of correct / incorrect answers.
